Mayadin al-Tahrir
Mayadin al-Tahrir regards itself as a transnational civil society organization, consisting mostly of a network of artists, scientists, authors and intellectuals in Germany as well as in Egypt. The network came into being during the ‘Arab Spring’ in 2011 to support the promising change in Egypt.

Streets of Liberation – a Photo Documentation
On January 25th, 2011, tens of thousand people took to the streets for freedom, justice and democracy. Tens of thousands became hundreds of thousands. Hundreds of thousands became over a million. They fought for change. We saw a lot of pictures from the battles, the teargas attacky by the police, the ‘battle of the camel’ on February 3rd. The photo documentation by Mayadin Al-Tahrir aims to show how was and still is everyday life at Tahrir square. There are impressions from the 18 days of the revolutionbut as well from the months after.

Make up your Mind! Choose well!
Make up your Minde is a media-campaign for political and civil education with special focus on voter education as a preparation for the upcoming elections in Egypt. The goal of that campaign is to inform voters, raise their awareness of their own responsibility and to empower them to make use of their democratic rights.

Freedom Bus
The project was developed by a group of young people to accomplish a positive and invigorating contribution in the field of political education for a new, self-confident and responsible Egypt in the run-up to the elections in November 2011. Through the flexibility of the bus the largest possible amount of people, especially in more outlying villages, in Egypt may be reached to be able to participate in current political discourses. Stimulating discussions and the exchange of opinions and ideas are at the heart of the bus project. The main goal thereby is reaching a higher degree of self-reflection in political behavior of the Egyptian population and creating an increasing awareness of democratic social rights and obligations or, quite simply, awakening a new interest in political processes.

Internship at Mayadin al-Tahrir
Mayadin al-Tahrir offers Internships for students in Germany as well as in Cairo. Interns assist with the planning, organization and implementation of projects, conduct research and translate texts into English and Arabic.
